Details

1. 4pm Mathcounts Class

The 3pm Mathcounts was very crowded last Sunday. Hence we are opening a 4pm Mathcounts class and encouraging the younger students to move to 4pm.

For students who attended last Sunday, if you found all 7 assessment questions easy, you should be in the 3pm class. If you struggled, didn't feel comfortable, or got about only half of the questions correct, please move to the 4pm class if you can. We have also secured a Teacher’s Assistant to help with the 3pm class.

For students who are joining this Sunday for the first time, 4pm class has a lot more spots available.

2. Donating to MLCCC

With Amazon Purchases – At No Cost to You:

If you need to purchase school (or house) supplies from Amazon, you can donate to MLCCC at absolutely no cost to you. We set up MLCCC as a donation recipient of Amazon. So whenever you buy from Amazon, please support us by buying via their charity portal smile.amazon.com and choosing "Main Line Chinese Culture Center" as your charity. You only need to choose the charity once, then every subsequent time, use smile.amazon.com. smile.amazon.com has the same price as amazon.com, but Amazon will donate 0.5% your purchase to MLCCC, at no cost to you.

United Way Campaign - MLCCC Code is 45966:

Many companies are starting their United Way campaigns. Please consider designating your contribution to our Chinese Weekend School. Our agency code is #45966.

Buy Giant Gift Card From PTO:

If you go to Giant supermarket to shop, please consider purchasing Giant Gift Cards from our PTO. You get the exact value in gift card of the dollars you pay. For example, you spend $20 to buy a $20 Giant Gift Card you use at Giant. Meanwhile PTO gets 5% of the $20, donated by Giant. So please support our PTO while you shop at Giant! PTO uses the funds for many activities, such as School Store, Halloween Trick-or-Treat, Tea Party, School Picnic, and much more.

New or Gently Used Items to School Store:

School Store welcomes any new or gently used stationery, toys, accessories and all unexpired food items like snacks, drinks, etc. Items with commercial or company logos are fine. Please leave your name when donating, for future recognition.

Thank you in advance!

3. CSL Level 7 Student Placed in Chinese 3 Honors at Prestigious Private School

Jonathan Carroll, who has been studying Mandarin at our Weekend School for 7 years, was just placed in Chinese 3 Honors (not Chinese 2, not Chinese 3 Regular, but Chinese 3 Honors!) class at the Hill School, after being tested. Congratulations to Jonathan, his family, and all of the MLCCC Weekend School teachers who have taught him! It’s a testament to his hardwork/persistency and our curriculum/teachers!

4. Parent-on-Duty Sign Up Needed

Many thanks to the parents who have already signed up! Our community needs everyone’s effort to ensure its efficient operation and safe environment for our kids, so parent-on-duty should be every family’s responsibility to fulfill. Please come to the Admin Desk to sign up. Ideally each family should sign up three times for the entire school year, averaged to once per term (which is 10 weeks). Thank you for your cooperation!

5. Summer Homework Completion Reward With School Dollars

CHL students (grades 2-9) who have done the Ma Liping summer HW book, will be rewarded with school dollars. Those who completed 90% or more of the HW book will be rewarded $10 school dollars and those who completed 40%-80% will be rewarded $5 school dollars.
