Chinese Dance (for children and adults)
Dance is a great way to enjoy a traditional Chinese cultural art form.
It is the probably most visible form of the Chinese culture in any setting.
MLCCC Children's Dance Troupe
- performs during schoolwide events and frequest participations in the community events.
Adult Dance Class
Both children and adults dance students are not required to do dance performance.
Ms. Weiwei Ma is currently our Weekend School Chinese folk dance teacher. Weiwei joined the MLCCC Weekends school as folk dance instructor for both adult and children's classes in 2016, she has shown tremendous dedication to the folk dance program at MLCCC and has received raving reviews since her joining us. She also enjoys immense popularity among both parents and the students of the dance classes. Below is a summary of her experiences.
WEIWEI MA
Weiwei Ma is an experienced Chinese dancer, teacher, and choreographer who started professional Chinese dance training at age eleven. She studied choreography at The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Academy of Arts where she graduated with a BFA degree. Before coming to Philadelphia, Weiwei taught Chinese classical dance and choreography at Beijing Contemporary Music Academy. Weiwei recently graduated with her MFA degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. One of her works was selected in 2015 for performances at Boyer College, which she represented at the 2016 ACDFA conference in Brockport, NY. Weiwei's choreography embraces both "Chineseness" and "Americanness", as she tries to find a way to balance technique and artistry through her personal experiences. Weiwei has been a member of Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers since 2013.
