MLCCC Newsletter (2013-06-07)
Dear Parents,
Just when we thought our Wayne Camp last summer was the best summer so far, with
many new activities, our Wayne Camp this summer is poised to top it! We are excited
to share with you some new offerings at our Wayne Chinese Summer Camp, which
is still accepting registrations!
- Traditional Chinese Painting
(GuoHua) Art Teacher
We are delighted to announce that our Wayne Camp's Art
Teacher this summer is a professional Chinese Painting (GuoHua) artist/teacher.
She is from Taiwan and has studied Chinese painting all of her life, including at
the prestigious China's Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Hang Zhou Academy of
Fine Arts in China. She holds 5-6 gallery screenings per year and her artwork is
displayed at many places including at Widener University. She is also a very experienced
teacher of Chinese Painting and Chinese Watercolor and has numerous classes and
students (children and adults) in the area. Her name is Mrs. Leona Brittingham (adopted
husband's last name).
She is our Camp's art teacher for the entire summer. During each session, she will
teach the oldest group (approximately aged 8 and above) traditional Chinese brush
painting. For all younger groups, she will teach art/drawing skills. This class
is open to non-campers for a cost of $10/hr if there is space in the class.
- 3 Specials (Art, Indoor
Tennis, Karate) Included in Camp Tuition
Art is explained above.
Indoor Tennis was such a popular elective at our Wayne Camp last summer that we
are incorporating it as a regular "Special" this summer. Tennis will again be taught
by a coach from Crosscourt Gemini in our big indoor room with A/C and fan on Tuesday
and Thursday afternoons. Coach has tennis rackets, balls, nets, etc.
Another one of our popular classes - our Karate class, will be taught by a teacher
from Cheng's Martial Arts School on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
- Lunches Ordered from Ping
Pong restaurant in Gateway Shopping Center
We are excited to announce that this summer our Chinese
take-out lunches will be from the delicious and healthy Ping Pong restaurant in
Gateway Shopping Center! Yummy! Plus, they use quality ingredients! Each entrée
comes with white rice and vegetable fried rice. Small tupper costs $4.25, large
tupper costs $5.50 for chicken, pork, baby shrimp entrees, add $1 for beef. Fridays
are still Pizza Day.
- Referral Bonus
We are very proud of our camp offerings this summer
(effective language learning, fun cultural activities, traditional Chinese painting,
indoor tennis, karate, etc.) We feel that it is a good mix of classroom learning
and sports/active activities, a good balance of indoor and outdoor. Our Wayne Camp
is one of the best values on the Main Line because campers get so much learning
and fun for a price that's almost as low as a township day camp. If you know of
anyone who may be interested in our camp, please let them know. We give a $25 referral
bonus to you if the new camper attends for at least 2 weeks.
Best Regards,
Li, Xia - Principal
